Responsibilities

As a Management Information Specialist, you will:

* Provide technical assistance, advice and guidance for a variety of MIS applications affecting certain aspects of the program office.
* Recommend actions and projects as appropriate, outlining needed resources, projected time frames and required coordination.
* Assist with conducting and planning projected work processes, operational practices and needs assessments, which will affect program office operations.

This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH). PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is one (1) year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. It includes the following:

* Providing guidance on data processing projects and software issues; AND
* Conducting analysis of systems to assist in determining the nature of system requirements and whether or not new systems or enhancements should be developed; AND
* Providing input on IT budget feasibility or project justification studies; AND
* Assists in developing and implementing data processing methods and techniques which are utilized in management information activities.
