Job Description

Aquila is seeking a System Administrator to contribute to one of this country's premier defense research organizations. The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group provides assessments of novel technologies and system concepts in solution of defense intelligence needs. The right candidate will support a wide variety of information technology (IT) tasks across a diverse set of network and computer resources and will contribute to the IT teams efforts in maintaining and improving the groups computer resources and meeting government IT security requirements. The right candidate will need to develop creative technical solutions to complex IT problems. Qualified candidates must be able to expand and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks for a variety of operating systems and provide direct desktop support to ~40 users as part of a larger IT team.

Responsibilities:

This position will provide general user support, procure needed computer systems, network hardware and software. Responsibilities also include installing, configuring, and managing Linux, desktops and servers, network infrastructure and some Windows and Mac systems, installing and maintaining all commercial software, patching and performing backups for group computer systems, and management of networks, file shares, virtual infrastructures and SAN/NAS environments. Additional responsibilities might include remediating vulnerabilities, maintaining compliance with policies and procedures, coordinating with Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for all group Systems Security Plans, and documenting IT procedures,

Required Skills:

* Operating Systems: UNIX/Linux, Windows, OSX, VMware, Cisco IOS.
* Hardware: Intel/AMD, Cisco, Sun/Oracle, Dell, Apple, EMC, NetApp.
* Software/applications: SAP, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook), MS Active Directory, LDAP, Java, Javascript, SQL, BMC Footprints, VMware, SCCM 2012, SCOM 2012, EMC Networker, Solarwinds.
* Networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and HTTP/S.
* Programming Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
* System auditing, hardening and firewall configurations.

Preferred Skills:

* Experience with research high performance and real-time computing environments
* Experience with DoD IT security requirements and procedures, RMF & STIG
* Highly effective knowledge of Linux RHEL/CentOS 6/7 and especially Ubuntu 16/18
* A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7/10, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016,
* Office Suites, Active Directory
* Certification in one or more of the following: Security+, Comp Tia A+, Network+

Qualifications and Background:

* Associate degree OR Technical School Certificate OR 1 or more Certifications.
* At least 3 years of applicable experience
