Job Description

DEI is seeking a highly-skilled Linux Administrator to provide systems administration support to a customer's IT Services and Support component in Ft. Belvoir, VA. The candidate will work with such technologies as Open Source: Apache Hadoop, Zookeeper, Puppet; App Servers: JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty; Databases: Cloudbase, Accumulo, HBase, MySQL; Government Framework: Ozone Widget Framework (OWF); Virtualization: Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM), VMware vSphere Client, VMware Player, and VirtualBox. He or she will be responsible for deploying a cloud infrastructure to Linux based server clusters.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will function as the Linux Administrator responsible for developing and maintaining Linux deployment standards, maintaining existing systems and implementing new technologies.

Daily responsibilities may include the following:

* Responsible for deploying a cloud infrastructure, including Apache Hadoop and Cloud base, to Linux based server clusters
* Integrate multiple widgets and services into the ozone widget framework using the JBoss, Tomcat and Jetty web servers
* Deploy custom ingest applications and ingested various forms of data into the cloud infrastructure
* Execute custom MapReduce jobs via Apache Hadoop and ensured all data analytics had been run successfully
* Provision and configure servers via network-based installation using the automation software Cobbler and Puppet
* Create custom shell scripts to automate the starting and stopping of various software applications
* Archive and restored essential system data, including files, folders and database tables
* Use VMware to create virtual machines on bare metal servers as well as on personal computers
* Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, identify defects, and create and maintain a defect database.
* Build automated test cases to verify functionality of software deliverables to validate application functionalities.

BASIC REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Must possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance (or higher)
* Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
* 9 years of Linux systems administration and configuration experience; 7 years of professional experience will be accepted with a Master's Degree
* Extensive background with RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.x and CentOs
* Experience programming with Bash and experience with Linux internals
* Candidate must have hands on experience with the following technologies or an equivalent technology - Open Source: Apache Hadoop, Zookeeper, Puppet; App Servers: JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty; Databases: Cloudbase, Accumulo, HBase, MySQL; Government Framework: Ozone Widget Framework (OWF); Virtualization: Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM), VMware vSphere Client, VMware Player, VirtualBox
* Experience with DoD STIGs
* Demonstrate the ability to diagnose complex customer applications issues and provide quick and accurate solutions
* Capable of looking at situations and offering solutions (i.e., excellent troubleshooting skills)
* Ability to take ownership of issues from identification through resolution
* Excellent customer and interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, strong abaility to multi-task, as well as excellent planning, prioritization and organizational skills

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server
* ITIL Foundation certified
* Experience in Hadoop environments
