In this role you will:

* Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
* Coordinate, direct and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
* Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
* Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
* Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
* Ensure data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
* Plan and implement the modernization of servers.
* Develop, implement and promote standard operating procedures and schedules.
* Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
* You will be expected to be able to help with the development and implementation of new standards, policies and procedures.
* You will be expected to have the ability to work with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.

IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

LIASON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Required Qualifications

* Must have a Bachelors and 3+ years of relevant experience, or a HS diploma and 7+ years of relevant experience
* Must have at least 1 years of Linux Red Hat experience and 1+ years using an additional flavor of Linux
* Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust
* Must have the ability to learn one of the following scripting languages: Perl, Python, or any shell.
* Must have experience Installing and configuring COTS products. Documenting installation procedures for COTS products.
* Must be able to Integrate COTS products in a lab environment.
* Must have experience with integrating backup, disaster recovery solutions such as Symantec NetBackup and Acronis.
* Must be able to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis. This includes troubleshooting any and all issues with system configurations, backups, files systems, and user access.
* Must have experience with Windows system security; Hardening servers and applications to HHS standards and Government Accountability Office (GAO) scans and documenting variances from the guidelines when needed; Hardening infrastructure resources in compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
* Must have experience with Linux system security; Hardening servers and applications to HHS standards and Government Accountability Office (GAO) scans and documenting variances from the guidelines when needed; Hardening infrastructure resources in compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
* Must be able to administer virtualized server environments with VMware vSphere/ESXi
* Must be able to document test procedures for the system.
* Must be comfortable doing Hands-on work in a data center (e.g. racking, cabling, power, capacity planning, best practices)
* Must have experience with Automating system patch availability, configuration management, and compliance auditing using Red Hat Satellite server, Ansible, Puppet, and/or other automated CM products.
* Must be able to deploy operating system builds and patches (e.g. Satellite, Kickstart, jumpstart, yum) System monitoring and trending (e.g. SolarWinds, BigFix, CounterACT, Splunk, CyberArk, SailPoint)

Desired Qualifications

* Visio and general documentation skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Creating documentation on current processes and newly engineered solutions.
* Working knowledge in any of the following area is a plus: Services (e.g. IDM, DNS, DHCP), Networking (e.g. packet analysis, routing, Cisco, Foundry, Juniper, Force10, Extreme) Security (e.g. Firewalls, VPN, server hardening, IDS, forensics, auditing, ACLs)
