Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Satellite Operator for the GOES-R satellite enterprise in Suitland, MD.

Part of a team operating an enterprise scale multi-satellite constellation. The Junior Operator will be responsible for understanding and operating the ground system to include Space/Ground links, Ground Station support equipment, Data delivery systems, data processing systems, all ground software, hardware and architecture, interfaces. The position is staffed 24/7 and ability to work shift work is required.

Role/Responsibilities:

Duties can include, but are not limited to:

* Respond to Ground System anomalies.
* Manage and configure Ground Systems.
* Coordinate with Mission Planner for specialized activities.
* Coordinate deviations from planned operations as well as anomaly responses or diagnostic mode.
* Write, track and report Incident Report.
* Maintain and validate shift logs.
* Coordinate support and system resources.
* Create and maintain Ground Ops Products (SOPs, etc.) as required.
* This is one of two primary crew operators at the MMC.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Space Operations, Computer Technology, Math, Physics or EE plus 0-3 years work experience -OR- Associates Degree plus 3 years work experience -OR- HS diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.

Relevant work experience would ideally be relevant military experience and training in satellite operations or similar field. New college graduates and/or transitioning veterans with relevant work experience are highly encouraged to apply.

* 0-3 years Satellite Operations Center experience supporting operations.
* 0-3 years satellite operations and or science data processing experience.
* Must be a US citizen with ability to pass a Government background investigation.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

* Knowledge of complex, distributed ground systems to include satellite ground station equipment and procedures,
* Familiarity with network (LAN/WAN) architecture, protocols and equipment, Linux,
* Satellite Operations knowledge and experience is a plus.
* Knowledge of Ground System and Satellite operations or I&T experience a plus.
* Knowledge of software and system test and validation processes.
* Operations procedures (SOP) development and validation.
* Experience in dealing with science data processing systems.
