Junior Engineer, Ground Terminal

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Junior Ground Terminal Engineer is a key member of the SES Networks Ground Systems Engineering team contributing to the development, deployment, and support of SES Networks' customer terminals. The engineer's primary objective is to ensure SES Networks customers have the highest quality terminals systems available, meeting the company's system performance requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

* Participate on a multi-discipline product focused team to ensure timely and accurate product delivery
* Effectively communicate status of ongoing projects to technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Perform system engineering design and analysis in support of the SES Networks customer terminal in an operational environment
* Develop and validate ground terminal implementation, integration, and certification processes
* Provide technical clarification to subcontractors and vendors developing MEO Ka compatible antennas, RF components, and baseband equipment
* Develop and document requirements, specifications, interfaces, and test plans supporting development and enhancement of SES Networks' customer terminals
* Develop methods to automate testing to drive efficient and accelerated feature delivery
* Other ad-hoc tasks, as assigned by Line Manager

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

* BS in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or Computer Science, or similar
* 1 year of experience in developing satellite communication systems, satellite terminal systems or satellite-based networking & data systems; Ka-Band systems experience a plus
* Experience in the development or application of VSAT antennas and baseband equipment
* At least six months of experience in remote baseband, IF, RF, antennas, or WAN/LAN equipment
* Understanding of Telecommunications Satellite Systems including VSAT systems
* Academic knowledge of Satellite Communications Baseband, Network Management, and Modem systems equipment
* Complete understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems
* Knowledge of internet based network connectivity principles and implementation
* Thorough understanding of and ability to use system engineering processes
* Excellent/Good command of MS Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
* Working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
