Jr. Technical Support (Minor w/ work permit)

This is a hands-on learning opportunity for a high school level employee. POC has a collaborative environment that emphasizes innovation and engineering/research skills. The employee will participate in computer and research activities for proposals and projects. High school level employees are given an opportunity to interact with researchers, engineers, and technicians in design, construction, implementation, verification and validation. The high school level employee then analyzes the data, reports on the results, and presents the findings. This is a full time, temporary position for up to three months.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with prototype assembly and testing under the guidance of the Engineering Team.
* Collect and analyze data in an organized and informative manner.
* Compose reports based on testing results.
* Other duties as assigned by management.

Experience Requirements:

* Current High School Attendance in good standing.
* Valid Work Permit
* Have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
* Possess a reliable history of strong attendance and punctuality record.
* Operation of a computer and PC software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
* An interdisciplinary outlook and strong self-motivation. Good communication skills, good problem solving ability and ability to work with a diverse work force

The employee in the position will be required to occasionally move throughout the facilities including, climbing stairs, when necessary. Occasional bending and reaching in an office environment, including opening and closing file cabinets drawers with light grasping. Type on a standard keyboard (laptop or desktop). Use standard computer display screens. Use standard push button phones and must speak clearly and be understood by others. Sit in a standard up-right position for a minimum of one hour, but up to 12hours in a day. Be able to lift and carry weight unassisted not exceeding 20 lbs.

MANDATORY: This employee may work no more than 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week (when school is not in session).

This employee is not authorized to operate a motorized vehicle on behalf of POC, including a personal vehicle or forklift. This employee may not be permitted to work in or about buildings where explosives or articles containing explosive components are used or stored, including for example: small arms ammunition. This employee may not be permitted to work with power-driven wood-working machines, circular saws, band size, and guillotine shears, power-driven hoisting apparatuses such as hand controlled forklifts. This employee is not allowed to access the roof of any of the buildings for any reason or do any work requiring the use of ladders or scaffolds.
