Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an IT Systems Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systemsMaintains the integrity and security of servers and systemsServes as a front line interface to users with technical issuesMakes recommendations for hardware and software purchasesInteracts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staffConducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologiesDuties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training usersThe Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server servicesPerforms Server administration for Server Operating SystemsPerforms administration of physical and virtualized serversResponsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardwareConfigures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on serversPerforms OS and vendor software patching on serversMonitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools Performs, maintains, troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on ServersPerforms administration of physical and virtualized servers using industry standard technologies Performs administration of servers in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologiesPlans and executes project tasksEstablishes peer-to-peer mentoring relationshipsFacilitates goal setting and problem solving on the teamExecutes plans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies, procedures for serversExecutes Security Compliancy processes and policies KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fieldsProvides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problemsUses judgment within defined policies and practicesWorks under limited directionDetermines and develops approach to solutionsWork is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been metContributes to the development of organization's goals and objectivesRequires a solid understanding of Server based operating systemsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences, and IT leadershipDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff, and IT leadershipAbility to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performance teamEnhanced analytical and problem solving skillsDemonstrated ability to develop and implement project plans for upgrades and system enhancementsDemonstrated ability to write policies, procedures, and create system documentationEnhanced troubleshooting skills within the Server OS as well as both networking and storage technologiesEnsures infrastructure is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs Takes ownership of getting the task done on schedule and within budgetDemonstrates willingness and ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid changePractical knowledge of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activitiesElevate more complex issuesWorking knowledge to create and run scripts to automate repetitive processes
