Responsibilities

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position within the Division of Dam Safety and Inspections of the Office of Energy Projects. The position will report to Headquarters. The incumbent will work as an IT Specialist (Cyber Security) and must have knowledge of a wide range of security policy requirements, concepts, principles, and practicies to independently review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems in order to provide oversight of and make recommendations for imprevment of cyber potection of critical infrastructure facilities for hydroelectric projects.

The mission of the Office of Energy Projects is to facilitate potential benefits to the nation through the review of natural gas and hydropower infrastructure proposals and minimize risks to the public associated with FERC jurisdictional energy infrastructure. Major duties include:

* Serves as a technical expert, coach, and team leader for analysis and resolution of cyber security issues for the Commission's dam safety program.
* Performs special security inspections and participates as an evaluator during security exercises.
* Conducts surveys and risk analyses or operational engineering functions to determine what needs to be protected, identify and assess the degree of vulnerability, and ensure that selected protection measures are implemented as proposed.

* One year probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized Experience is defined as: experience in analyzing cyber security issues at critical infrastructure facilities.
