SUMMARY

Responsible for managing, evaluating, configuring, optimizing and troubleshooting the core network security infrastructure for the company as well as maintaining network security systems and protocols, processes and documentation in a multi data center 24x7x365 highly available environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures;
* Responsible for research, planning, architecture, design, and support of Alliant's Corporate Data Network with emphasis on network and server security, remote access, IT infrastructure including directory services, Business Partner/DMZ, VPN, network security technologies, Active Directory, MIIS;
* Conducts security threat assessments and security testing, analyzes results and makes recommendations to eliminate gaps in network security;
* Defines, plans and designs network infrastructure solutions including integrated financial analysis of technical alternatives within a specific technology discipline to meet business requirements;
* Successfully negotiates technical design and deployment strategy with divisional clients;
* Leads the development effort to secure the Corporate global data network architecture;
* Serves as the IT security subject matter expert, and provides consulting support to Division IT and end-user organizations;
* Produces and maintains timely, accurate engineering documentation to support implementation, operations support and quality/compliance requirements. Leads technical projects focused on securing existing infrastructure;
* Performs technology evaluations including analysis and proof of concept along with supporting analysis and documentation;
* Proactively interacts with supplier technical staff including product development, engineering and operations support;
* Partners with Alliant's information security organization in conducting security and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and adherence to best practices;
* Assists Enterprise Information Security with updates to key IT security policies and guidelines;
* Applies security experience to assist customers looking to implement new Internet-based applications;
* Designs and maintains network security according to industry standards to ensure that security breaches do not occur and critical business and customer information is safeguarded from unauthorized access;
* Provides expert level troubleshooting and resolves security issues and problems; Identifies and mitigates risks and threats to network security;
* Configures Cisco ASA/Pix and CheckPoint firewalls;
* Enhances network security through effective design and monitoring; ensures regulatory compliance;
* Analyzes problems to determine the best solution;
* Designs solutions to challenging security problems;
* Collaborates with peers to vet proposed designs;
* Automates tasks via the use of scripts and programs;
* Reviews designs and assesses risk from application development and other teams in subject area;
* Writes formal security reviews in subject area;
* Provides engineering escalations to services and operations teams; able to support afterhours escalation;

Creates, reviews and maintains documentation and makes presentations;
* Performs maintenance and management of assigned security technologies and functions that include firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, authentication devices, encryption, event log monitoring, reporting, incident response, security analysis and/or other security activities;
* Researches, evaluates, designs and implements new/improved security software and/or devices that meet risk management objectives;
* Performs security analysis of assigned systems and functions;
* Reports findings and makes recommendations for remediation to management;
* Provides second level technical expertise in the identification and resolution of security related issues/events;
* Develops, documents and implements new processes and procedures which improve the department's ability to provide "World Class" client service;
* May be asked to serve as a Team Leader with responsibility for day-to-day operations, mentoring of other team members, peer review of project work, and problem resolution; and
* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in computer technology or equivalent combination of education and experience

5-10 years related work experience

SKILLS

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills

Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork

Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office products
