Job Description

Overview

The IT Enterprise Architect provides guidance, road maps, principles, standards and best practices for application, infrastructure, and other IT domains. They must be focused on enabling business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization.

The IT Enterprise Architect has a holistic view of the organization's strategic and tactical needs, is experienced with the tenets of diverse application, technology, and business solution domains and is able to use this knowledge to create viable and cost-effective solutions. The primary role of the Enterprise Architect is to ensure that the respective business, application, data and technology solutions are aligned with the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies and standards.

The IT Enterprise Architect is able to work with diverse stakeholders, be they business, clinical, academic, or IT, and provide a collaborative environment for solution development and delivery. The IT Enterprise Architect is well versed with project management processes and tools. They are involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, and implementation.

Responsibilities

1. Provide enterprise solution design and development according to the listed criteria:

A. Addresses organizational goals, both strategic and tactical

B. Focuses on clinical, business, and research outcomes

C. Maintains a holistic view of both current and emerging applications and technologies

D. That are agile and cost effective

E. Includes the input of all relevant stakeholders

F. Is both innovative and exceptional

2.Works on highly complex ecosystem wide projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains.

3. Analyzes current and emerging applications and technologies; makes recommendations to the organization on future directions and/or standards for both business and IT.

4. Work with senior IT management, e.g. CIO and Directors, on development of IT priorities. Create scenarios for IT futures.

5. Analyze risk for IT solutions.

6. Provides assistance with system selection, system implementation, including system definition, use cases, building, testing and conversion planning. Assess the capabilities of current clinical and non-clinical platforms and/or technologies to service new needs. Ensure solution, process, project and other needs are fully documented and appropriately archived.

7. Mentor and assist IT and/or other stakeholders on understanding new solution and technology elements and impacts.

8.Achieves performance targets and implement continuous improvement goals.

9. Evaluates system utilization and performance. Provides system optimization guidance.

10. Provide strong project management and communications

A. Adheres to the organization's project management standards and tools

B. Work with the governance process for the project as defined

C. Include all stakeholders

D. Is Collaborative

11. Performs other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science or related area.

2. 5-7 years' experience in either an Enterprise Architecture, IT Technical Architect, Senior IT Engineering, Senior Application Analyst, or equivalent experience in a major domain area for applications, technology, and IT security. Crossover experience in several of these domains is desired.

3. 5 years+ experience with healthcare enterprise applications or technology solutions development preferred.

4. Demonstrated achievements in delivering complex multi-disciplinary application and/or technology solutions meeting strategic organizational goals.

5. Demonstrated leadership skills in a team setting.

6. Conceptual and functional knowledge and experience in one or more of the major technology domains listed:

A. IT Infrastructure domain: network, server, Microsoft, IT security, cloud services, programing/Web, performance/monitoring tools, business continuity/DR, and IT operations and support processes.

B. Applications domain: clinical, business, and/or research applications and solutions. Experience and with the Epic EMR and related applications and processes highly preferred. Familiarity with other clinical applications and technology, e.g. medical imaging, patient monitoring, lab, and others in a healthcare provider setting also preferred

7. Certifications in project management, solution processes and/or technical/applications certifications highly desired.

8. Demonstrated project management skills, including time management. Experience working with Microsoft Project or other tools required.

9. Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills. Ability to articulate facts and ideas clearly and concisely.

10. Analytical thinking for effective solution determination and the ability to 'think outside the box' is essential. The ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, while providing timely and responsive services are the keys to this position.

11. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are critical for success in this position.
