Description

The Embassy Information Management Office requests assistance for DoS staff support and mission success in Afghanistan. Assisting functions will be performed by the Inventory Specialist/Classified Pouch Supervisor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide logistical support for the tracking and annual inventory of technology equipment recorded in the DoS' Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS)


* Ensure proper documentation and filing of all inventory forms


* Process all paperwork and forms to ensure all inventoried materials are in the roper location and under control


* Serve as single point of contact for the coordination of all annual inventory procedures for IRM


* Responsible for the supervision and transport, receipt, tracking, control, and storage of Controlled U.S. Diplomatic Pouches


* Coordinate pouch movement with IRM, Security, Diplomatic Courier, and other Embassy staff, as well as staff and military at the international airport


* Accept controlled items and ensure proper distribution to the customers


* Responsible for briefing Embassy personnel on authorized shipping procedures including packaging and safe handling, and for briefing Non-professional Couriers


* Follow guidance of Vienna Convention and DoS regulations on the proper handling of Classified and Controlled material and Diplomatic Pouch and Mail (DPM) guidelines as well as locally initiated procedures within Embassy


* Utilize DoS' ILMS DPM module to track all controlled/accountable pouches


* Supervise the Classified Pouch Support position


* Adhere to DoS regulations (Foreign Affairs Manual and Foreign Affairs Handbook), especially on Information Security, Safeguarding Information, and Equal Opportunity Protections


* Complete other duties as assigned by senior management


* Prompt and regular attendance



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Must have mail-handling and/or logistics experience


* Must have supervisory experience in related role


* Experience with inventory or mail-processing tracking systems


* Possess excellent administrative skills


* Possess reading and writing English communication skills



Security Requirements

The selected individual must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening as a condition of employment. The selected individual may/will be subject to a Government security background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. Clearance level requirement may be subject to change at the government's discretion. In this event, you will be required to obtain and maintain a required Top Secret Clearance or higher for the duration of your employment. Incumbent may be selected at a higher or lower clearance level as specified by any change made by the Government.

Infrequent travel in support of business activities may be required.

Educational / Work Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Management or Logistics and/or related subject is required; or five (5) years' experience in mail-handling and/or logistics required


* Two (2) years' supervisory experience; or one (1) year performing as the Classified Pouch Support


* Must have mail-handling and/or logistics experience and excellent administration skills
