Job Description

Summary of Position

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for an Integration Technician based at our University Park, Illinois facility. The successful incumbent conduct acceptance testing which includes comprehending systems drawings, wiring AC/DC power and simulation equipment, configuring systems equipment, loading firmware, modifying IP addresses, and aids in the development of system test procedures. Provides first line internal support for all field service and commissioning activities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Through testing, confirms all engineered systems are manufactured to customer design specifications and applicable test regime.


* Ensures all work is completed to the correct documentation revisions and mark ups, etc. and are communicated to Systems Engineering.


* Prepares manuals and wiring diagrams (as built) relating to system equipment.


* Provides first-line support for field Commissioning Engineers, which includes but is not limited to technical support, parts, RMA's, drawings, etc.


* Participates in field visits.


* Coordinates and participates in commissioning engineer training programs.


* Performs software integration and testing.


* Assists Engineering in the design, documentation, and testing of new products as required.


* Assists with training and demonstration of systems.



Position Requirements

* Associates Degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology required.


* 2 to 5 years' experience working in a technical environment, such as telecoms, fire & gas, AV systems, or electrical circuit design/repair.


* Must be able to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the telephone to individuals with varying technical experiences and aptitudes.


* Must possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills.


* Must maintain a professional appearance and be able to work directly with customers.


* Experience working with networks and IP equipment.


* Exposure to and involvement with panel building and panel wiring techniques and practices.


* Strong organizational skills, technical and troubleshooting skills, and be able to stay within the time allowed for each job, without sacrificing quality.


* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.


* Ability to solve complex problems; work on multiple projects simultaneously, while working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.


* Available to work overtime on short notice including nights and weekends.


* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
