Job Description

Northern Region Operations System Management and ITS Maintenance Section is seeking a qualified technician to oversee the inspection, monitoring and compliance of ITS maintenance contracts, interpret contract provisions, resolve routine contract issues, manage inventory issues and monitor contract expenditures. Core responsibilities include: Conduct site visits to monitor and evaluate contract performance ensuring that work is performed in accordance with contractual language, MOT requirements as outlined in Virginia Work Area Protection Manual, Agency guidelines and maintenance procedures. Provide inventory management oversight ensuring compliance to Agency standards. Serve as technical resource at plan development phase of projects within area of responsibility. Participate in project meetings to provide input ensuring that requirements are addressed. Participate in construction project meetings to stay abreast of planned work that will create equipment and system outages. Monitor field change requests and identify and or evaluate deviations from plans to ensure project management is made aware to mitigate negative impacts on the project. Manage system downtime requests to minimize effects of required work. Coordinate downtime requests and serve as point of contact documenting system and equipment statuses. Minimum Qualifications

Experience in: contract monitoring and management; inventory management oversight and system situational awareness; internet protocol networking equipment and management and hands-on with administrating, provisioning, and troubleshooting network systems. Considerable knowledge of ITS maintenance practices, field inspection techniques and practices and the operation of fiber optics equipment and internet protocol networks. Skill in the use of computers and software applications. Demonstrated ability to: communicate technical needs and proposed solutions effectively orally and in writing; work concurrently on multiple project assignments; set goals and priorities and develop schedule to meet project needs. Proven ability to: comprehend contract documents understanding where specific responsibilities fall and the requirements that are to be met; solve problems, work independently and accomplish work tasks within rigid time constraints; develop positive working relationships with diverse staff. Ability to work in a fast paced, urban environment. Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

ITS field maintenance or field management experience. Considerable experience overseeing and monitoring ITS maintenance contracts. Experience in the use of project planning tools, asset management systems, maintenance manager systems, computers and VDOT procurement systems. Proven ability to comprehend VDOT standards, plans and specifications. Valid Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) cert and Network cert or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Degree in Electronics Technology or technical school with course work in systems or electronics or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the job.

Fingerprint based background check, references, work history, and DMV driving records will be verified. All employees are required to work during emergency operations, which may include work outside normal work hours; assignments may vary based on business needs.
