This position is located in the Information Technology Evaluation Division (ITED), Office of Information Technology, Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

As the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we remain an independent and objective organization, conducting and supervising audits, evaluations, and investigations relating to the Department's programs and operations. As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

* Conduct reviews, assessments and evaluations of HUD IT systems and IT security programs to assess compliance with applicable laws, federal regulations, standards, best practices, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance and other HUD policies. The division conducts a variety of sensitive and complex assignments and reports directly to the Director ITED:
* Assess IT management, operational and technical controls requiring the use of a variety of information security skills acquired through both education and experience;
* Provide support and advice to the ITED Director, IT operation personnel and senior management and perform other IT related tasks as directed;
* Assess a wide variety of information security related activities that support HUD IT systems including; network and security architecture analysis; software analysis; information and privacy protection assurance; system development and maintenance; outsource services and assess compliance with the Agency's information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools;
* Assess HUD's compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Contribute to the annual (FISMA) work plan; coordinate OIG FISMA evaluation activities with internal and external stakeholders within HUD; review IT Security policies and procedures for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and HUD memorandum; contribute to the OIG annual HUD FISMA report; contributes to the completion of and tracking of HUD's annual CyberScope FISMA metrics reported to OMB; attends OIG and Departmental meetings, briefings, trainings, and conferences related to FISMA; and performs quality assurance reviews over evaluation reports and findings.

25% or less - 1 - 5 nights per month.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes:

* Performing Information Technology (IT) and IT Security evaluations; including assessment of practices, security functions, methodologies and information management of the evaluation environment. AND
* Applying National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) publications covering IT, IT Security, Information Assurance, Program Management and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations when conducting reviews and assessments of IT security programs. AND
* Experience in conducting evaluations or assessments of IT systems security requirements security implementations and determine compliance with applicable Laws, government policies and regulations.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
