Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

Job Description

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. Capital Area Division located in Alexandria, VA has an immediate need for an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). The ISSO will provide support to the ISSM in maintaining the appropriate security posture and operation of systems in accordance with DoD Risk Management Framework, NISPOM Chapter 8 and/or JAFAN 6/3/JSIG, and NIST.

Specific duties include, but not limited to:

* Build and maintain unclassified and classified and DSS accredited computer systems and infrastructure
* Ensure systems are configured and hardened in accordance with DISA STIGS
* Develop, track, create, and manage POA&M's
* Conduct periodic vulnerability scans of information systems utilizing ACAS and resolve vulnerabilities accordingly (patching, configuration changes, etc.)
* Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly audits of classified information systems and report findings accordingly
* Responsible for Classified WAN/LAN system architecture including design, product evaluation and selection as well as software and hardware installation and configuration
* Create and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs)
* Perform Helpdesk/user support
* Identify and implement new technologies that support the overall mission

Requirements:

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of applicable experience
* DoD 8570 Compliant IAT level I or II, possess at least an A+, Network +, CA-Security, or SSCP
* US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
* Experience building operating systems
* Technical knowledge and skills in systems administration, network engineering, security operations, and problem solving
* Experience implementing and monitoring with the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
* Familiarity with multiple intel community and DSS accreditation procedures
* Experience managing Windows 10, Windows Server 2008+, Linux and Cisco operating systems
* Strong Active Directory and Group Policy experience
* Experience utilizing vulnerability and compliance scanners such as ACAD, SCAP, ManageEngine, HBSS, etc.
* Ability to lift 25 pounds

Desired Qualifications:

* US citizen with an Active SECRET clearance (minimum)
* Security+ Certification
* SAP/SCI experience
* Understanding of system vulnerabilities, exploitation, and vulnerability mitigation
* Enterprise Virtualization Tools and Solutions
* Multi-Factor Authentication
* eMASS experience
