JOB TITLE: Information Assurance (IA) Technician

JOB SUMMARY: Reports to the IA Lead. Provides IA support for 61st Communications Squadron

PRIMARY DUTIES: Under direction from the Information System Security Manager, perform accreditation activities for all 61CS assets implementing controls, policies and instructions as identified within the Risk Management Framework. Develop information systems assurance programs and control guidelines in support of 61CS program managers. Advise 61CS system administrators on security policies and procedures while resolving technical problems, establishing priorities, and determining methods for end user security matters. Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols. Assess risks, identify mitigation strategies, and develop accreditation recommendations. Communicate accreditation issues to both technical and non-technical peers and management. Prepares technical vulnerability reports for briefing to the 61CS/CC.

SECONDARY DUTIES: Perform DOD Security Technical Information Guide assessments, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution scans, security control assessments, and security network reviews. Develop technical solutions and new security processes to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks. Assist system owners in the interpretation, application, and compliance with risk management framework requirements.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Monitors and responds to inquiries within the IA component of the RMF database.

Education

An associate's degree in an information technology related field is preferred. Equivalent experience can be substituted for formal education.

Qualifications

Must have four years of IA experience. Must have knowledge of DOD and US Government Information Assurance regulations and directives including but not limited to FISMA and NIST 800 special publications. Applicable knowledge of Risk Management Framework. Experience performing vulnerability scans utilizing the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool, and applying Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) configuration standards. Knowledge and experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).

Must be fully ambulatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Must possess a CompTIA SEC+ certification.
