Aptima has an opening for an experienced, motivated visionary to shape and lead research and development programs involving the teaming of human and artificial intelligence.

In this position you will:

* Lead research efforts to identify and develop novel approaches to allow humans and artificial intelligence to team together to improve reasoning, analysis, prediction, and decision-making about complex problems
* Maintain awareness of the latest artificial intelligence techniques and identify applications of those techniques
* Contribute to the design of user interfaces to support new approaches to human-AI teaming
* Contribute to the design and execution of research studies to assess the usability, utility, and performance of human-AI teaming techniques
* Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to implement and test new approaches
* Contribute to proposal writing, project management, and customer interactions

Minimum requirements:

* Minimum master's degree in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to: computer science, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, mathematics, and human factors
* Experience working on distributed, collaborative teams
* Experience working on research-oriented projects
* Experience writing proposals and acquiring funding for large programs
* Experience in leading research and development projects or teams

The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:

* Ph.D. in the abovementioned disciplines
* Experience writing and presenting on findings in peer reviewed journals or conferences on these topics
* Experience building systems and visualizations that enable humans and artificially intelligent systems to collaborate
* Experience developing the underlying models and frameworks upon which artificially intelligent systems operate
* Experience in building, leveraging and advancing the state of the art in AI models such as Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or Deep Neural Nets
* Experience in deploying, scaling AI solutions in modern environments such as AWS or TPUs
* Experience in evaluating and improving user interfaces or visualizations
* Knowledge of human-computer interaction, visual analytics, data journalism, human factors, and/or cognitive science research
* Experience in Human-AI teaming applications such as Personal Assistants, Ground and Air Robotics, and Cyber Security Operations
