Job Description

The purpose of this work is to acquire an integrated hardware solution and professional Information Technology (IT) services for providing secure, highly available, enterprise HPC services, systems architecture, integration, and consulting services to clients served by the customer.

Position Duties:

* The HPC Storage Administrator will coordinate, direct and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages associated with the storage system.
* The candidate will schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
* The duties will also include continually monitoring and tuning multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
* The candidate will ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities, Ensuring data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
* The candidate will develop, implement and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules pertaining to storage systems and conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
* The HPC Storage Administrator will also develop and implement new standards, policies and procedures.
* The candidate will Work as a technical leader to implement solutions to current problems and future deficiencies in our HPC environment in conjunction with junior and senior administrators and technical members of other HPC teams.

Routine duties include:

* The daily activities of configuration and operation of storage systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
* Optimizing of system operation and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning of storage systems.
* Provide assistance to users in accessing and using business systems.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in IT, Science or Engineering, and nine (9) years or more of IT experience; Master's degree and seven (7) years more of IT experience;
* Minimum five (5) years applicable experience in RedHat 6 or 7.
* RedHat certification
* Minimum 4 years' experience managing two or more of the following systems or services:
* Expert knowledge of HPC relevant storage hardware and storage software systems. Technologies from vendors such as: DDN, Panasas, IBM and file systems technologies such as: GPFS, Lustre, PanFS and NFS and CIFS
* Experience or expertise with HPC file system and archive technologies such as HPSS, TSM, object storage.
* Experience in a NetApp storage environment working with Data OnTap 8.x
* Must be able to obtain a public trust security clearance.

Desired

* Masters in IT
* In-depth knowledge of Linux systems, storage devices and storage data management tools.
* Knowledge and experience with scripting in Perl, Bash, or Python.
* Working knowledge of networking concepts and technology such as Ethernet, Infiniband, and Fibre channel.
* Knowledge of data transfer tools such as Globus, bbcp, rsync, and bittorrent.
* Managing TCP/IP networking, basic routing, and network services.
* Managing backing up high-performance filesystems.
* Knowledge of tape drives, tape libraries, Fibre Channel devices and switches.
* Knowledge of backup software such as NetBackup, TSM, etc.
* Test and monitor backup, and recovery processes and performance.
* Ability to diagnose, identify, and troubleshoot errors between various backup components.
