Job Description

Do you want to work in an engineering group which is reinventing HPC and working to put truly powerful tools and techniques in the hands of way more people than can use it today?

As an HPC Application & Performance specialist in EC2's engineering team, you'll wear many hats, including technical advisor, software developer and evangelist. You must possess a unique combination of deep technical skills and some business acumen and be strongly self-motivated by a drive to ensure our customers and partners are able to take full advantage of the services and software we build to deliver on their own HPC products and needs.

Ideally, you're someone who knows the current field of HPC solutions available to customers, has a view about the best way to use them, but also wants to help guide the broader HPC industry in new directions. You have immediate credibility with technologists and developers at all levels, from PhDs to CIOs. You love to share your passion with others and exhibit good judgment in selecting strategic opportunities to do so. You don't just want to be part of an industry movement; you want to be out front leading it. If this sounds like you, we'd like to speak with you.

Responsibilities

* Work backwards from specific problems to build a bigger picture and create solutions that go far beyond that case to help a broad segment or a whole community.
* Engage and Educate customers, partners and developers to facilitate the deployment and tuning of highly performant HPC solutions on AWS.
* Test and tune standard HPC applications to perform at their optimum on AWS. Provide feedback to engineering teams on areas of performance bottlenecks in compute, storage, or networking.
* Produce reference documents, deliver talks and seek new ways of scaling your impact to enable more "plug and play" integrations by our customers and partners, so we can together increase the capability, diversity and quality of easy-to-use HPC solutions available.
* Brief Amazon executive teams on progress in adopting AWS HPC offerings and provide critical assessment when we fall short, as part of our customer-obsessed & continuous-improvement culture.
* Work with the AWS HPC engineering teams to help define future product and service requirements.
* Capture and share best-practice knowledge that future customers and service orgs can leverage.
