Job Description

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development,

located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a PNT Scientist.

Job Summary:

In this role, the candidate will be responsible for rapidly designing, prototyping, and testing state-of-the-art navigation

algorithms related to GPS, GNSS, and other radio navigation systems. These projects will require GPS system

knowledge, understanding of relevant signal processing techniques, and expertise with sensor fusion.

Duties:

1. Develop advanced tracking and acquisition algorithms for field-acquired GPS/GNSS datasets (35%)

2. Design advanced approaches for countering jamming and spoofing. (30%)

3. Develop proof-of-concept algorithms for emerging signal processing and communications projects (20%)

4. Assist in the definition and execution of data acquisition field tests (10%)

5. Brief sponsor and project leadership on development and testing outcomes (5%).

Required Qualifications:

* PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics or a closely related discipline, with a focus on

Positioning, Navigation and Time (PNT)

* Strong understanding of GPS systems, GNSS signal processing, trilateration, and sensor fusion.
* Demonstrated experience in software development with expertise with C and MATLAB
* Ability to clearly communicate ideas and results with co-workers, and effectively work in a team environment while

multitasking across multiple projects.

Desired Qualifications:

Ideal candidate has experience with at least some of the following:

* Kalman filtering
* GNSS signal integrity monitoring
* GNSS weak signal acquisition
* Signal tracking under high dynamics
* Multilateration
* Inertial navigation
