Summary:

The Geospatial Systems Software Engineer I will perform software coding and writing of software documentation to design specifications while implementing data conversion procedures and performing software and database quality control.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform software coding and write software documentation to design specifications.
* Design and implement data conversion procedures and perform software and database quality control.
* Ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of systems.
* Perform detailed software design and detailed database conversion design and are directly involved in the coding and implementation of the more complex and strategic portions of application software and database conversion projects.
* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Cartographic Science, Geology, Social Science, Environmental Science or Related Technical Discipline and 2 years of related experience.
* Demonstrated experience using COTS image software in both Windows/Linux operating environment.
* Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies; documentation standards; configuration management; DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements; distributed systems, modeling and simulation, and resource utilization assessment.
* Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Proficient in ESRI product languages, programming languages, Internet markup languages, and other technologies.
* Understanding of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) software as well as software engineering and programming for GIS systems in large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting broad base of applications.
* Ability to work holidays, nights, and weekends as required.
* Ability to travel to other government facilities, up to 25%, as required.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a multi-tasking environment, self-starter, accomplishment-oriented, team player, and an individual contributor.
* Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, be proactive, and assume additional responsibility and accountability.

* The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
* During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
