Job Description

At Lyft, community is what we are and it's what we do. It's what makes us different. To create the best ride for all, we start in our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization where all team members are recognized for what they bring. From day one, Lyft's mission has been to improve people's lives with the world's best transportation. And self-driving cars are critical to that mission: they can make our streets safer, cities greener, and traffic a thing of the past. That's why we started Level 5, our self-driving division, where we're building a self-driving system to operate on the Lyft network.

Frontend Engineers at Lyft build and own creative web applications using advanced JavaScript, Typescript, CSS, and HTML, to achieve design fidelity, usability, accessibility, and performance across both desktop and mobile browsers. In Level 5 they are building internal web applications that are important to Lyft's self-driving efforts.

In a tightly-knit team, they are responsible for sound technical execution of web projects through hands-on development, quality-assurance, and prototyping. Projects are done in close collaboration with autonomy, integration, operations, and backend teams to build web tools using bleeding edge web technologies.

Responsibilities:

* Report to the Level5 frontend engineering manager
* Define your role in a collaborative, supportive and diverse team
* Communicate across time zones and oceans. Bring a willingness to build consideration for this communication setup and help keep our information flow healthy, steady, and productive
* Contribute your unique views and opinions to move us faster towards our goals
* Care and curate our code base to progressively improve our product
* Write features & bug fixes using established best testing practices
* Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge

What we are looking for:

* 4+ years of experience
* An interest in teaching and empowering others on your team
* Experience working with Product, Design, and Engineering
* Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5
* Experience working with leading JavaScript frameworks, like React
* An interest in how browsers and the DOM work
* An interest in investigating and learning about web performance

Benefits:

* Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options
* In addition to 11 observed holidays, salaried team members have unlimited paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
* 401(k) plan to help save for your future
* 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
* Monthly commuter subsidy to cover your transit to work
* 20% off all Lyft
