The Front End Engineer will bring expertise with digital content management, Javascript, HTLM5/CSS3 and partner across verticals (working with the audience development, editorial, social, and creative teams) to lead and manage content and asset upload daily, execute A/B testing with Optimizely, and manage all newsletters using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (ExactTarget). The candidate will work also with Sitecore CMS systems to ensure all content meets design/brand specifications and looks good across different browsers and devices. To support our revenue partner model, candidate will partner with account management team to implement new creative offerings via DFP as well as optimize performance and distribution of partner developed content. This candidate will be responsible for driving both creative and technical production and will have a strong understanding of current tools but will also be in tune with emerging trends within digital media.

This position is based in New York City.

Responsibilities:

* Partner closely with Product, UX and Back-end teams to design and develop responsive and elegant user interfaces
* Newsletter management-properly build, send, and report on email performance (fluency in ExactTarget)
* Work with SEO team as well as the development team to help manage and help execute technical search optimizations
* Site optimization: Use Optimizely to A/B test headlines, section fronts, article pages, images, and more
* Work with internal leads to define critical project details including deliverables, scope, timing, along with risk/benefit analysis as required
* Partner with account management team to innovate on advertising partner offering including landing page optimization and newsletter inclusions
* Participate in editorial team meetings and editorial content planning sessions
* Participate in daily stand-up calls with product manager and remote development team
* Proven experience working on agile software development teams with rapid iteration
* Participate in rapid-prototyping and "quick visualizations" to help illustrate interface concepts
* Create modern HTML email templates that work across devices
* Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and proactively makes recommendations where they might be leveraged
* Leave the code in better shape than you found it

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
* Minimum 5 years of experience with expert level proficiency in HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript/Jquery and experience using CMS systems a must have (Sitecore a plus)
* Front end web development experience with consumer facing web & mobile applications - please supply links of your work
* Experience with Salesforce/ExactTarget, Optimizely
* Strong digital experience including web, email, mobile and tablet
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch
* Experience with analytics platforms-Omniture a plus
* The ability to communicate creative concepts and technical processes in simple language
* Strong proficiency in Front-end best practices for web, mobile, and email
* Experience working in Microsoft Visual Studio IDE
* Acute attention to requirements, functional and UI detail
* Thinks creatively and looks for way to innovate and improve existing technologies, processes and systems
* Able to work independently while keeping teammates abreast of milestones, dependencies and issues
* Must feel comfortable working in a dynamic and flexible environment with changing requirements
* Eager to contribute to a highly collaborative team dynamic
* Expert knowledge of Javascript with Jquery and Jquery mobile
* Expert knowledge of web technologies (HTML5/CSS3)
* Experience using object oriented Javascript frameworks
