Flight Test Data Processing Engineer

Description:Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Program is looking for someone to join the historic Skunk Works™. This position is for a flight test data processing engineer. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of system administration, development, implementation, and data operations for assigned programs in Palmdale for the Advanced Development Programs, also known as, "the Skunkworks™". The candidate will interface with personnel in the development of data and system requirements, designs and installation. Works with LM instrumentation engineers to identify data processing needs and identify cost-saving solutions. The candidate must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and be able to work independently. Occasional extended hours and weekends are required.

Tasks include:

* Develop, test, and troubleshoot data processing algorithms for aircraft data.
* Receive, process and troubleshoot IRIG 106 formatted data products per established processes.
* Coordinate with Instrumentation Engineering, Operations Engineering, IT administration, and leadership on issues, status and capabilities.
* Diagnosis and resolution of problems encountered in the recovery of test data.
* Support IT assignments as required.

At this level the successful candidate will expected to be familiar with the data processing field and be familiar with server system administration and desktop support. The candidate will continue actively work to expand his or her knowledge of the discipline and of specific tasking.

The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This position requires an active Secret security clearance.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field (electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, etc.)
* Experience with IT infrastructure operations, computer networking, and/or software programming concepts
* Experience in data processing and network system administration
* Experience with designing and implementing creative solutions
* Experience with troubleshooting missing data and malfunctioning network systems
* Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook

Desired Skills:

The ideal candidate possesses:

* Programming in C/C++
* Security+ certification
* Subject Matter Expert in data collection systems
* Experience working with the LM application Common Data Processing
* Experience with installation of Network Server systems for data processing
* Experience working in flight test
* Hardware and/or software programming experience
* Understanding of IRIG 106
* Experience with various instrumentation vendors hardware and software
* Symvionics IADS (Interactive Analysis and Display System) use and programming
* Experience with and/or knowledge of working with communications protocols, specifically Fibre Channel, MIL-STD-1553, IEE-1394, CAIS Bus (Common Airborne Instrumentation System Bus), RS-485
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process improvement initiatives
* Excellent communication skills
