Job Description

Moffatt and Nichol is currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our simulation team in the Orange County, California office. Our simulation group provides historical and real-time analysis and visualization of container terminal operations, provided by simulation and emulation, which are an invaluable tool when considering facility improvements or operational changes before they are implemented.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Developing simulation models for analyzing processes and layouts using discrete event simulation software and via programming
* Developing and maintaining software package using programming such as C++ and script
* Conducting debugging, validation, verification, output analysis of simulation models
* Documenting modeling assumptions, process flows, results, and issuing reports
* Data collection and analysis as model inputs
* Numerical and statistical analysis of various operation processes.
* Interfacing with technicians, engineers and project managers during data gathering, model development, analysis, reporting, and presentation

Qualifications:

* 5+ years of experience with C++ in a professional environment (preferably in the Microsoft Visual Studio environment)
* 5+ years of software development projects in the Microsoft Windows environment
* Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science preferred
* Creative problem-solving mindset
* Aggressive fast learner
* Experience with any of the following will be a strong plus:
* Simulation systems
* Video game technologies
* Large scale integration projects
* Experience with any of the following tools will be a strong plus:
* Qt Cross-platform Software development
* Version management tools such as Git
* Quality assurance best practices including unit testing, integration testing, and test automation
* Networking technologies (sockets, TCP/IP, web services, RPC, Google Protocol Buffers, etc.)
* Lua, AWS, Java, Groovy, MySQL, Influx, or Oracle
* Unix/Linux environments and tools
* Microsoft Power BI, ELK stack, or Grafana
