Field Support Technician

Job Description

The Field Support Technician will be part of the team that calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs instruments and/or systems returned for service and/or repair. Typically found in areas such as service support, metrology, etc. They troubleshoot to component level.

Responsibilities Include:

* Performs calibrations with the various primary standards and M&TE per prescribed work instructions.
* Prepares required documentation and maintains associated records.
* Conveys data and trends on product calibrations to appropriate person or department to assure customer satisfaction.
* Escalates unusual product issues to technical support or other appropriate department.
* Maintain all standards and M&TE.
* In a service center setting, analyzes, troubleshoots, makes repairs, resolves technical problems, and performs maintenance services on measurement equipment or components returned to service center by the customer.

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

Required:

* U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
* A minimum of 6 months of repair experience in a high volume production environment.
* Associates in Science Degree in the electronics field OR related degree OR PMEL/TMDE/ or electronics training from the military
* Basic computer skills (MS Office - Outlook, Excel and Word)
* Proficient in English Written Communications

Preferred:

* Bachelor's Degree in electronics field.
* Understanding Basic Metrology concept (17025 and/or Z-540).
* System Administration: understanding of automated test system (ex MetCal), diagnostics of hardware and some software.

Working Conditions and Basic Requirements:

* Customer service center location.
* Must be able to sit, stand and lift up to 50 pounds periodically throughout shift.
