Information Technology is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions.

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Center of Excellence (COE) architects, designs, develops, operates and maintains the GIS technology and systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable services to its customers

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be helping with the day to day GIS support activities to the business users from IT point of view. They will act as a liaison and work closely with business and GISCOE managed services provider and other GISCOE vendors and service providers. They will act as GIS SME and will work with the project teams as a technical lead in presenting GISCOE Operations and Maintenance point of view. The successful candidate will monitor the performance of the GIS systems and applications and provide regular updates and reports to visualize operations. Additionally, they will coordinate the releases and actively participate in disaster recovery exercises to make the system reliable, while communicating with all the stakeholders effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

Minimum:

* BA/BS in GIS, geography, environmental sciences, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience and/or field of study
* Minimum 7 years of support and analysis experience

Desired:

* Advanced Degree (master's preferred)
* Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Desktop
* Experience with ArcPy and building ArcPy scripts
* Experience with Geodatabase versions and replication, geometric networks, Schematics, FME, ArcFM , ArcPy
* Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) including Oracle, SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL
* Excellent customer service, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to patiently communicate technical information clearly and concisely
* Fluent English with proficient written and verbal communication abilities
* Ability to learn new concepts quickly, process large amount of information, and adapt to the changing work environment
* Experience with Geodatabase versions and replication, geometric networks, Schematics, FME, ArcFM
* Prior experience with Esri developer products such as ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcObjects, ArcGIS Pro SDK, or ArcGIS Runtime SDKs
* Familiarity with database administration tasks such as performing backups and restores, creating users, configuration and tuning and diagnostic tracing
* Knowledge of Unix, Linux, AIX and Windows operating systems
* Experience developing mobile and/or web applications
* Experience integrating GIS with various other technologies (eg. SAP)
* Experience creating custom Geoprocessing Toolboxes
* Experience with establishing and improving upon CI/CD pipeline

Job Responsibilities

Work Scope: Possesses broad technological expertise. Assignments are complex, have major associated risks with high visibility. Solid understanding of Application Development Frameworks and Coding standard. Support governance of development standards and frameworks. Responsible for diagnosing and correcting complex production issues. Full understanding of combined technical, business, and processes areas. Ability to learn and understand of PG&E Production methodology, compliance processes and impact to client projects. Applies significant technical concepts of subject area and procedures and techniques; ability to use and define technical details of assigned work. Serves as key technical resource with areas of specialization.

* Problem Solving: Resolves application programming problems of complex scope through cross-functional team participation
* Internal/External Contact: Runs O&M team meetings
* Provides and documents resource estimates in response to business service requests
* Lead less experienced Application Support Analysts on technically complex projects or work
* Solid understanding of the impact to all application areas of systems/sub-systems modifications and enhancements; has broad, over-arching understanding of impact to IT
* Leads teams of programmer- analysts
* Keeps up with programming trends
* Provides input on deployment plans
* Provide high-quality technical support and customer service to PG&E end users through effective communication.
