Department Overview

PG&E's Information Technology (IT) organization is comprised of various unified departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions.

The Digital Catalyst Team is a new enterprise team that is responsible for working collaboratively with the lines of business (e.g., Gas Operations, Electric Operations, etc.) to implement consumer grade mobile and analytical solutions across various user groups (e.g., field users, office workers, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to:

* Deploying best-in-class / rapid delivery capability for mobile & analytics solutions.
* Simplifying, improving, and standardizing business work management processes for mobile & analytics needs.
* Delivering high value analytics across all Lines of Businesses.
* Rapid delivery of web applications.
* Enabling and establishing an enterprise-wide data management foundation, treating Data as an Asset.



Digital Catalyst consists of a staff of highly skilled professionals working together to produce mobile & analytics solutions following an agile methodology and design thinking. We are a "start-up" department within IT and building a driven and creative development team. We take the time to understand our partners' needs and translate those into solutions that delight our users. Our goal is to deliver products with intuitive user experience that will improve PG&E employees' and customer's safety, productivity and overall well-being, while collaborating and establishing design and development patterns for our public cloud footprint.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Developer on the Digital Catalyst Data & Analytics Team to lead and deliver moderate to highly complex development tasks. In addition, you will implement automated unit and integration tests, as well as to ensure the practice is followed consistently. You will participate in design and specifications, program logic and flow-charting, data engineering and movement, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and support. Additionally, you will provide analysis of problems and recommends solutions. You will actively participate and practice in an open, highly collaborative Agile environment.

Qualifications

Minimum:

* Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
* Minimum 7 years of related work experience
* Experience with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem, including serverless technologies, databases (both SQL and NoSQL) and object store, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code
* Experience in designing, engineering, and developing data movement
* Experience with design and delivery of modern, scalable data delivery techniques, including, but not limited to, micro-services (APIs, Docker, ECS/EKS/Kubernetes) and /or streaming (Kafka, etc)
* Strong Unix/Linux/Shell skills
* Hands on development of applications and services

Desired:

* Experience in product development
* Experience as a Full Stack Developer - 5 years
* Experience in designing and developing web or micro-services for multi-channel consumption
* Experience with team collaboration of code with a code repository like GitHub, BitBucket, etc.
* Strong technical skills and relevant experience with Node.js or Python
* Experience in building and implementing data pipelines, data fabrics, data lakes, and/or data governance
* Experience delivering product with Agile methodologies
* Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
* Competency in anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications
* Competency in relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people
* Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences

Responsibilities

* Works on complex data & analytics-centric problems having broad impact that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions
* Defines and documents requirements for complex system development or testing
* Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues
* Develops, implements, and approves guidelines and process documentation
* Designs and deploys new complex or enhanced capabilities of the analytics ecosystem through existing agile operations
