Job Description

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Enterprise Windows System Administrator to any of our office locations in WA, OR, AK, or CA.

We are seeking an Enterprise Windows System Administrator to work independently with other Information Services (IS) professionals (e.g. Operational, Engineering, Architecture, and Application teams) applying their specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to ensure the Windows Server Operating System (OS) is optimized for the delivery of clinical and business services in support of the IS Strategic Plan. Ensuring this level of optimization requires close work with clinical and non-clinical caregivers, project managers, and other IS professionals in order to enumerate requirements from these various groups of stakeholders. The Enterprise Windows Server Administrator uses their knowledge of the Windows Server OS to autonomously determine the optimal configuration of the OS and then configures the OS in the manner they determine best meets requirements. Additionally, they administer the Windows Server OS on existing systems to include independently troubleshooting systems experiencing issues of varying complexity and then implementing their solution to remediate issues. In the course of their work, they also author new or modify existing documentation related to the Windows Server OS. They also begin to focusing on the role of the Server OS in the enterprise and how it can help achieve strategic goals and objectives. Their experience is also used to mentor and develop the Associate level members of their team.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

* Optimizes the Windows Server Operating System configuration to support requirements for clinical and non-clinical services.


* Research and resolve technical issues related to the Windows Server Operating System and participate in problem resolution.


* Provides technical peer review and consulting services.


* Mentor and coach junior-level team members.


* Author clear, concise and complete communications for change, incident and problem management.


* Estimates infrastructure component costs with vendors and internal technology resources for current and proposed projects.


* Creates and maintains internal training materials to provide training to appropriate information systems staff for procedures, processes and knowledge transfer.



Required qualifications for this position include:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent education/experience.


* 4 years related experience.


* Ability to work with no supervision and without detailed instructions regarding the execution of tasks specific to performing server support services.


* Proficient in Windows Server Operating System command line operations.


* Demonstrated ability to methodically and effectively troubleshoot and resolve Windows Server Operating System connectivity and software failures. Added ability to effectively direct local staff in support of remote problem resolution.


* Can create a plan, scope out length and difficulty of tasks, and evaluate the results in order to achieve an objective.


* Demonstrated ability, skill and knowledge level to comprehend software upgrade release notes, plan, communicate to clients, complete necessary hardware upgrades, and schedule the successful implementation of these upgrades.


* Ability to author standards, policies, and procedures.


* Demonstrated ability to review, analyze, and make change recommendations regarding documented standards, policies and procedures.


* Proficient in understanding of the interactive and operational characteristics of multiple network protocols as they relate to the Windows server environment.


* Demonstrated knowledge of PowerShell, C#, VBScript, or JavaScript.


* Proficient in server hardware components and foundational computing concepts.



Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Certification in Microsoft, VMWare, or Cisco UCS.
