Job Description

Position Summary

Under minimal guidance, provide technical leadership to Application Strategy and Architecture Platform teams. Candidate must be highly experienced with up-to-date knowledge of API's, Middleware, Integration Platforms, Database Platforms, and major application development stacks. Specific expertise desired includes Apigee, Tibco, AWS SNS/SQS and MQ, Websphere, Tomcat, Denodo, Vitria, Oracle, SQL Server, MYSQL, RDS, Aurora and UDB. They will be responsible for technical leadership around the current platform but also have a background understanding of both technology and the business to lead us into future implementations of technology. They will develop requirements and guide projects through implementation. This technologist will display technical and functional competence in Guardian's technology implementation and support methodologies and uphold Guardian's commitment to ethical business practices.

Candidate Responsibilities

* Act as a leader in identifying new technology directions for Guardian application platforms
* Lead Application Modernization to reduce dependency on legacy platforms and reduce technical debt
* Apply expertise to strategic & product architecture decisions
* Research and evaluate new technologies, languages and design patterns
* Advance the overall platform architecture, including selecting new technologies
* Design and develop production solutions, prototypes, or reference implementations for either complex and/or products or features
* Collaborate with Agile teams to recommend the right application architectures with high quality and software best practices

Functional Skills

* Advanced knowledge of Object Oriented Design, Microservices, Service Oriented Architecture and Application Integration Design Patterns


* Expertise in multiple technologies and domains


* Expertise in JSON, RESTful services, and similar related tech


* Broad understanding of industry trends and available technologies in order to help guide Guardian's modern software strategy


* Experience with enterprise environments and related complexities, dynamics, and processes


* Experience with data modeling (logical and physical) and object modeling


* Experience with distributed systems, API integration and modelling.


* Experience with JavaScript, related frameworks (Node, Angular, Meteor) a plus


* Experience with modern MVC (Model-view-controller) frameworks


* Experience with event-driven programming and frameworks


* Experience with a variety of database systems, both relational and NoSQL


* Experience with information security paradigms and implementations


* Excellent clarity of thought process and communication ability


* Autodidactic learner who seeks out new technologies and knowledge without significant external guidance.

Position Qualifications

* Minimum of 6 years of experience


* Certification in relevant technologies preferred


* BA/BS/MS in computer science or related subject area



Travel

* 10% Travel to/from other Guardian offices and to industry events
