To fulfill this mission, securing our users' data and protecting their privacy is an absolute requirement. We're looking for someone to manage a team of software engineers who build tools. Someone who can promote best standards and practices, and make it easy for us to hit our goals.

As the manager of information security software engineering, you're responsible for building the team that builds and tests our company's security defenses. The security team has four goals:

* Develop internal tools to take the risk out of daily activities,
* Develop product libraries that help core engineering deliver more secure code,
* Model threats during core eng feature reviews to stop insecure code shipping, and
* Penetration test the infrastructure, code, and company (red team).

You're part of a larger security team reporting to the CISO / Head of Security. Other portions of the team are security operations who handle on call, security incidents, and monitoring, and the security compliance team who handle customer RFQs, audits, vendor assessments, and training.

Responsibilities

* Drive hardworking engineers to build and improve cyber security at Blend
* Build the roadmap, metrics, and set the pace for the team
* Work with recruiting to grow the team
* Help engineers grow and meet their career goals
* Hire hardworking software engineers and train them to become great information security software engineers
* Work with larger engineering organization to stay lock step with their needs and challenges

Qualifications

* 3+ years managing software developers
* 7+ years threat hunting, building software
* History building software engineering teams through recruiting and hiring
* Proven vision for maintaining a balance between product execution and adequate protection
* Experience getting buy in for strategic initiatives
* Great persuasion and communication skills
* Proven ability to work well across groups
* Working understanding of information security standards
* Can take a complex problem and surface the security issues, driving toward a creative solution
* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
* Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
* Ability to make concrete progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge
