In this role, the individual will help establish and drive the strategic direction of the team and will be responsible for managing data science & algorithm research roadmap. A successful candidate will have management experience (people or program) and sufficient knowledge of and software development and validation process to make informed technical decisions.

A Day in the Life

* Manage technical team with focus on algorithms and model development. Establish a structure for this team that can meet data science organizational needs
* Lead algorithm development projects from investigation through to productization
* Work closely with the engineering team to operationalize infrastructure for data science algorithms
* Develop explainable machine learning and AI technology roadmap to increase algorithm transparency and facilitate risk assessment
* Pioneer compliance framework for machine learning and AI technology and fit into the Medtronic QMS process creatively.
* Keep up-to-date with the latest techniques and approaches in machine learning and statistical analysis.
* Identify and implement systems and tools to facilitate the algorithm development life cycle. Develop and Implement operational mechanisms within the team for efficient algorithm development
* Develop individuals assigned to the team, promote engagement and ensure job satisfaction of individual team members
* Communicate algorithms and analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

* Develops, inspects, mines, transforms, and models data to raise productivity, improve decision making, and gain competitive advantage.
* Conducts statistical analysis on data and information to ensure correct predictive forecasting or classification.
* Manages all aspects of end-to-end data processing utilizing customized report building functions of systems.
* Maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, and acts as a liaison to the business.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience, Master's with 3+ years of experience or a Ph.D. with 1+ years of experience. Degree must be in Statistics, Math, Computer Science or similar field.
* Experience working with and implementing advanced analytics and algorithm methodologies
* Experience leading within a team-based project environment
* Experience with Python, R or similar data-science scripting language
* Experience with statistical modelling
* Experience in using SQL for advanced data analysis and visualization

Nice to have:

* Direct people management experience
* Ability to effectively communicate technical information through presentation and through the preparation of technical documentation and/or manuscripts
* Strong track record in building machine learning models using real-world large datasets, that work in production with positive outcomes
* Prior experience with Spark and the AWS stack
* Experience with Tensorflow or H20.AI frameworks
* Proficient in relational database management systems with knowledge of non-relational database systems
* Background in healthcare & diabetes physiology
* Experience in a regulated industry and exposure to regulatory submissions. Understanding of FDA regulations including (ISO) 13485
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals
