We at Data Platform Reliability team ensure that our customers at all times have access to a reliable data platform that they can entirely rely on to make their decisions with the utmost confidence, and efficiency. Relationship building is a huge part of this role. Your advocacy for operational excellence at Lyft will help partners realize when this type of work is most effective.

What You'll Do:

* You will influence through developing relationships over exercising authority
* You will work with the partner teams to define the long-term reliability vision for the combined group
* You will improve team health by empowering teams to balance operational responsibilities with development
* You will hire and promote the growth of reliability engineers
* You will advance the Reliability Software Engineering (RSWE) as a learning organization

The Team Background:

* Software and Systems Engineers with large scale infrastructure operations background focused on improving the reliability levels of Data Infrastructure, Streaming Infrastructure, and Data Products teams.
* We work with different open source big data platforms (Hive, Spark, Presto, ZooKeeper, Airflow, Kafka, and ZooKeeper)
* The deep familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering principles.

Our work:

* We build holistic visibility into SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, dependency graphs, past performance of jobs and systems load to bring much-needed transparency to job executions.
* We step back to observe the patterns and write creative software to minimize toil. We use those insights to drive the best operational practices.
* We partner with the broader Lyft organization to build a culture of rigorously learning from incidents.

The nature of our work is interdisciplinary, so we recognize that you can come from a wide variety of leadership backgrounds (e.g., software engineering, SRE, systems engineering, data infrastructure, infrastructure engineering).
