Engineer, Systems Engineering Performance & Operations

Role description summary

As part of the SES Technology Systems Engineering, Performance, and Operations team, you will actively support the optimal performance of the SES Networks infrastructure (satellite MEO and GEO fleet and associated ground segment) by reviewing performance, identifying best practice and any implementation gaps, and seeking to resolve those gaps by engaging with the appropriate SES Networks business entities.

In this position, you will provide key analytics to improve the performance of the systems and be responsible for reporting on system performance as requested.

Primary responsibilities / Key result areas

* Proactively audit and report customer network performances at regular intervals to ensure compliance to the SLA and up-to-date configuration status including Gateway, Terminal, software, resources, IP, maintenance and sparing.
* Liaise with Operations and Sales Engineering to confirm proper and optimal configuration of each user service considering customer experience and SES resources
* Design and execute trade studies for optimizing the system performance.
* Increase the operational awareness and operational efficiency
* Create, Maintain, and Publish a handbook of "best practices" for equipment configurations which can be used by all Operation teams
* Analyze and implement improvements to the SES services to include IP, procedures, workflow and signature authority to optimize KPIs
* Analyze customer experience metrics to determine actual customer experiences
* Analyze complex and diverse problems, in their area of expertise, that could have a major impact on the organization. This could include examining new ideas or finding the root cause of an existing problem to minimize the risk of reoccurrence

Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree required in Telecommunications or related field
* At least 5 years of professional experience or equivalent in relevant field
* In-Depth knowledge of Telecommunications Satellite Systems including VSAT systems
* Expert working knowledge of satellite and RF systems, SATCOM Baseband, satellite ground-based antennas, Network Management, and Modem systems equipment
* Complete understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems
* Highly experienced in developing and maintaining high availability satellite or telecommunications systems using manned and unmanned facilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Fluency in English, any other regional language being an asset
* Sound analytical skills, critical task/tactical related decision-making skills
* Excellent organizational skills
* Coding and Database management skills as a plus
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a global, high multicultural team
* Ability to travel up to 20%, domestic and global
* Strong desire to learn new technologies
* Willingness to work weekends or evenings during peak workload periods
