Job Title: Engineer - IT (Datacenter)

Reports To: Senior Manager - IT (Datacenter)

Supervisory Role: No

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary

The Engineer - IT (Datacenter) participates in technical research, design, development, troubleshooting, and support to innovate within the IT infrastructure.

Essential Functions

* Architect, design and implement Compute, Virtualization and Storage environment
* Provide Engineering and Tier 3 support to compute, storage and virtualization infrastructure
* Performance and capacity planning, monitoring and reporting
* Participate in establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
* Participate in change management, problem management, and incident management calls
* Work independently and with third-party vendors to design, install, support, and upgrade various applications to support business needs
* Provide technical consulting internally to teammates and externally to a variety of IT teams
* Follow internal procedures for change management, incident management, and escalation
* Work with peers across multiple business units outside IT
* Own critical systems and processes within the infrastructure
* Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
* Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Detailed understanding of a wide range of enterprise SAN technologies, Backup technologies, Operating systems, Applications, Virtualization concepts, and business objectives
* SAN engineering and administration across a range of technologies including Pure Storage, NetApp, Data Domain, Veeam, StorageTek, a plus
* VMware vSphere (5.5 or higher) Hosts/vCenter Servers, VMware vROps, Windows Server/Client
* IT operational experience providing expertise in designing, planning, installing, configuring, maintaining and enhancing VMware, HPE, IBM, Cisco Chassis/Blade server Technology
* Ability to document procedures simply and accurately
* Ability to assess the impact of issues to appropriately escalate
* Ability to clearly document issues and communicate them with associated stakeholders
* Ability to understand functional business requests and translate them into technical requirements
* Establish self as a SME in assigned roles and for responsible tasks
* Prioritize and execute multiple project assignments and subsequent tasks in business impact context
* Establish self as point of contact for assigned business stakeholders
* Proactively analyze process gaps and dependencies, and identify solutions
* Problem and risk management for general business impact
* Tailor communication to different audiences
* Ownership of critical systems/processes
* Strong time management skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* German language skills
* ITIL experience

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field
* 5+ years of direct experience in related field
* In lieu of degree, 9+ years of experience in a related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above
* Experience with NetApp storage platforms
* Experience with HPE, Dell, Cisco IBM Chassis/Rack servers and storage solutions

Preferred Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

* HPE Server Certifications
* VMware Certified Professional Certifications
* Previous experience working in a medium to large corporate environment

Physical Job Requirements

* Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment, including the store(s), distribution center(s), warehouse(s), and/or corporate office(s) with the capability to switch job functions/roles quickly
* Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
* Ability to maneuver cases of product (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) up to 50 lbs.
* Ability to operate machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists
* Ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
* Ability to identify and distinguish between colors more than half the time

Travel Requirements

* This position commutes between stores, regional offices and/or distribution centers less than 25% of the time
* This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
* This position requires overnight international travel less than 25% of the time
* Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
