Job Description

Business Unit:

DUTIES: Provide technical leadership within teams responsible for managing and supporting Performance Analysis tools like AppDynamics, Wily, and Microfocus APM, and reporting application analytics and real-use monitoring results to DevOps teams; manage and support Enterprise Applications by working with DevOps teams to provide optimal monitoring solutions and fine tuning/enhancing existing monitoring tools and systems; collaborate with project teams throughout design, configuration, development, integration, testing, implementation and documentation of applications, in order to build monitoring services based on a deep understanding of the application's requirements; conduct analysis to determine integration needs, provide solutions and implement code accordingly; install and configure middleware and web server technologies, like Weblogic, Apache (Tomcat), Cloudfoundry, Iplanet, Nginx, etc.; install and configure mobile and browser real-use monitoring solutions, using AppDynamics, Microfocus-APM, Grafana, and Kibana, and implement dashboards to manage data gathered from performance analysis; install, configure, troubleshoot, and deploy applications and code in enterprise middleware environments, like Steel Cloud Virtual Machines (VMs), Weblogic/Apache Tomcat servers, Elastic Cloud and Pivotal Cloud foundry platform; develop and automate self-service monitoring tools to enable teams to catch and address application issues without causing business impact, utilizing several technologies including Ansible, Github, Ruby, Perl, Linux Shell Scripting, Java and J2EE; fine tune Weblogic application servers and perform upgrades and patching of Weblogic systems; debug performance issues; collaborate with Production Support to troubleshoot issues and provide permanent solutions; implement security policies and filter associated with the tools used; identify monitoring gaps and understand monitoring needs of various teams to ensure mission-critical applications are monitored thoroughly; capture the KPIs/Metrics and report errors in a timely manner, and make sure alerts work effectively to notify teams when errors occur; prepare and maintain manuals and project related documents and upload to WIKI to maintain shared records; set-up and optimize continuous integration build jobs using Jenkins, GOCD, and Ansible; and lead Application and DevOps teams in monitoring their applications and systems end-to-end, providing guidance on best practices and recommendations to improve application and system performance.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, and five (5) years of experience in enterprise middleware system and application monitoring and automating monitoring solutions with Ansible, Shell, Ruby, and Perl Scripting; of which two (2) years must include utilizing Wily, AppDynamics, Microfocus APM, Grafana, and Kibana monitoring tools, Java and J2EE technologies, and the following Middleware and Webserver technologies: Weblogic, Apache, Iplanet and Nginx; of which one (1) year must include experience deploying applications in Pivotal Cloudfoundry or Elastic Cloud.
