Looks is a Nordstrom experience that blends our rich fashion history and machine algorithms to help customers find and curate their own style. We're at the forefront of fashion and retail and we're building a team to help redefine fashion retail.

We are seeking a web services engineer to help build and improve a data pipeline and services targeted at enabling experiences focused on connecting our customers to highly-contextualized style recommendations curated by fashion experts. As a member of our team you will be responsible for authoring, delivering and supporting a cloud-based, distributed system comprised of multiple data stores, microservices and offline processes.. Team members are accountable for contributing solutions to business problems in the form of high-quality software in an agile work environment that fosters teamwork and personal growth.

You are a highly-motivated problem solver with experience in delivering high-quality software solutions. You have a proven understanding of the fundamentals of software development, a firm grasp on software design patterns and an appetite for continuous learning and collaboration. You are out in front of the latest trends in technology and you know how to instrument and measure quality and performance in your code.

You own this because you have...

* 2+ years of experience developing high-volume, costumer-centric software products
* MS or BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
* Deep knowledge of SOLID design principles and OOP languages (e.g. C#, Java, OOJS)
* Experience in authoring web services utilizing popular open-source frameworks (e.g. Express, .NET Core, Spring Boot)
* Comfortable with cloud-native solutions (esp. AWS DynamoDB, Kinesis and Lambda)
* A workflow which incorporates distributed version control (git)
* Proficiency with different types of data stores and strong understanding of appropriate use cases for each
* Demonstrated ability to build and strengthen your teammates-you love collaboration and you find helping others rewarding
* Real passion for testing, measuring and improving your code and you help your teammates adapt to better engineering practices
* Enthusiasm for learning and improving yourself-especially as it pertains to your career in technology
* Excitement for automating everything-you've experienced firsthand the benefits of CI/CD
* Flexibility to adapt and learn on the job
* Enjoy collaborating with local and distributed teams
* Curiosity about machine learning-contextual bandits and reinforcement learning
