Disney Streaming Services is a business unit within The Walt Disney Company's Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment that oversees all consumer-facing digital video subscription services across the company. Disney Streaming is responsible for developing and operating The Walt Disney Company's direct-to-consumer video businesses globally, including the ESPN+ premium sports streaming service, programmed in conjunction with ESPN; the upcoming Disney SVOD service; and BAMTECH Media, a global leader in direct-to-consumer video streaming products and solutions. Its core mission is to deliver global audiences the freedom to access content on their terms across any connected device, time or location.

The IE Team provides Logging, Metrics & Performance Data that supports the entire Disney Streaming platform. We're focused on innovation, solving large scale data ingest problems & producing metrics that business units can rely on to make decisions in real time to improve performance for our customers. Our team focuses the majority of its work on on-prem platforms but does also have R&D in cloud based services

Internship Eligibility:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney

Professional Internship:

* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
* Must possess unrestricted work authorization
* Must provide full work availability during Program Length (listed below)
* Must provide own transportation to/from work
* Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation. Position is located in New York.

Responsibilities

An Intern in the IE group would be working closely with the engineering team to develop, deploy & maintain instrumentation projects. It would be expected that the intern would become comfortable with contributing code, deploying and maintaining pieces of our platform. The goal is to give the candidate hands on exposure to working in a production environment directly involved in delivering our award-winning platform to consumers.

The intern would be expected to learn the basics of our platform (ELK, Cassandra, Kafka, Graphite, Grafana, Ansible) and move into a contributing role in the data visualization and automation aspects of our group. The intern would be responsible for writing technical documentation based on what they have learned. The intern would be given exposure to working inside a global company but the ability to work & grow in a tight knit agile culture of a startup.
