Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation's premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

Einstein's major strength, in addition to training physicians and scientists, is its science. During fiscal year 2015, the faculty's consistently high level of scientific achievement resulted in the awarding of more than $150 million in peer-reviewed grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks a Director of Infrastructure and Applications that will provide strategic and operational leadership for the College's information technology (IT) infrastructure services, including server, storage, wired and wireless networking, information security, the College's internet connection, several data centers, and cloud-based resources as well as application systems. The Director oversees the day-to-day operation of the server and network infrastructure, assists in developing the strategic direction for enhancements, and leads and supervises a high performance team. The Director will lead in establishing overall technical and network architectures; implements security and operational requirements and standards; oversees ongoing systems and operations while enhancing current department strategies, standards, processes. The selected candidate is an effective leader who has excellent interpersonal, communications, and relationship-building skills. This position ensures prompt and exceptional service delivery for all campus constituents.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises a team to design/engineer infrastructure and production upgrades and initiatives, select technologies, and providers/products/sourcing options in the service of college's short and long-term strategic goals.

Oversee enterprise servers and perform hardware and software maintenance operations including installation, configuration and support of server hardware, software and data backup and disaster recovery

Oversee team that performs software development, web development, and integrations

Assist with evaluating on premise and cloud-based systems for applicability in the College enterprise.

Manage and direct the development, maintenance and implementation of business applications and their supporting systems and storage.

Collaborate with other IT staff and provide input to the other disciplines on the practicality of initial design goals and impact to the overall project time-line; Provide oversight and manage work-flow to ensure deadlines are met. Report on projects, staff and departmental work status regularly.

Manage and oversee major infrastructure and service upgrades, including proper testing, scheduling, and communications.

Work closely with the Assistant Dean of Information Technology on technology strategy, solutions, resources, and compliance.

Lead the development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of appropriate disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the College's IT infrastructure.

Develop and maintain up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories

Establishes policies, standards, practices, and security measures to assure effective and consistent information and operations.

As needed, may act as the Deputy IT officer in the absence of the Assistant Dean for Information Technology

Perform other related duties as assigned;

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

A minimum of eight years relevant experience.

Project Management certification preferred;

Ability to provide leadership and direction and manage people and projects.

Experience building, maintaining and regularly testing business continuity and disaster recovery plans;

Experience with systems authentication integration practices including AD, LDAP and SSO technologies;

Excellent organizational, time management, problem solving and analytical skills

Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate effectively on both technical and non-technical projects, both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of internet, local and wide area network concept and protocols, fiber optics and other cabling technologies.

Knowledge of enterprise server hardware and software systems to include the ability to manage virtual server technology, and enterprise storage and backup technologies.

Knowledge of network hardware and software systems, to include the ability to manage DNS, DHCP, file and print services, and network security hardware and software.

Knowledge of endpoint computing platforms (Windows, MAC, VMWare Horizon) to include the ability to manage endpoint OS patching, software distribution and virtual desktop environment. Knowledge of enterprise anti-virus and other security-related solutions.
