Digital Content Developer:

The George Mason University Office of Marketing and Communications, within the Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE), invites applications for a Digital Content Developer. Responsibilities:

As part of its communications team, the Digital Content Developer supports the school in planning and execution of long and short form digital written content and videography for key audiences including prospective and current students, alumni, research, and advisory boards. The developer also works with internal clients and partners (departments and programs, University Career Services, and Mason Engineering advancement and academic and student affairs teams) in shaping, developing, and placing content on multiple channels.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

* Adapting written content (long and short form) as appropriate to audience and channel: digital, social, print, and new/emerging.
* Developing a steady stream of compelling digital content by researching and writing original content; commissioning and editing content from others, shaping and redeveloping content packages from others to be used on multiple channels.
* Assisting in executing and evaluating the school's editorial calendar and overarching content strategy for the school of engineering across the web and other digital media.
* Assisting in the creation, maintenance, and updating of the school's web governance and workflow.
* Working with the communications team to collect and analyze web, digital, and social metrics to champion a strong user experience across all digital platforms.
* Assisting in the development and execution of training in social media, web writing, analytics and other digital skills
* Shooting, producing, and editing video segments from clips for social media, to short-form segments for newsletter, website, and event use.



Required Qualifications:

* A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and professional experience;
* Excellent understanding of customer service philosophies;
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and video editing software;
* Hands-on experience creating, modifying, and optimizing web page graphics and layouts.



Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Drupal CMS, the ability to learn new programs; and
* Demonstrated understanding of collection and analysis of web, digital, and social metrics.
