DevOps Site Reliability Engineer

About Us:

This is a unique role, with a combination of DevOps, Development & Site Reliability Engineering responsibilities. In this role, you will design and develop cutting-edge experiences for Capital One customers, using existing and emerging technology platforms. You will be responsible for documenting design decisions and developing DevOps solutions while adhering to existing process guidelines. With Site Reliability Engineering mindset, you will also act as a mentor to junior developers, support automation. You will not only have oversight during implementation into production but also on post production support.

About You:

* Responsible for the day to day operations of all in-house developed, open source, and commercial DevOps tooling owned by the team (Ensuring system availability, minimum latency, performance, efficiency, capacity, and monitoring & alerting through proper emergency response to incidents, events and problems)
* Develop procedures to automate various systems and tasks (e.g. automating code builds and deployments) using uDeploy,Jenkins, GitHub, Subversion, Docker, Terraform, and Packer.
* Execute system administration of hosting platforms capable of running on a variety of frameworks in Java on both public and private cloud infrastructures
* Development and promotion of new DevOps tools to simplify the build process and entire continuous delivery pipeline
* Responsible for coding and troubleshooting tools and services with the Java programming however similar proficiency with Javascript, Go, Python, or Ruby is also desired.
* Responsible to continuously improve production experience for the customers by focusing on Site Reliability Engineering (through proper design and automation, improving availability, decreasing latency, improving performance, implementation of monitoring and alerting so that the system self heals production issues, supporting and improving emergency responses/incident management and engaging product team for proper future capacity planning)
* Responsible for performance testing of the system (including web, mobile apps, APIs and microservices).

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 5 years of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience using Java EE
* At least 4 years of experience in Build and CI/CD/CT technologies using GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Atlas, Nexus, or Cucumber
* At least 4 years of experience in Linux Shell Scripting
* At least 2 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure or OpenStack
* At least 2 years of experience with Docker, Chef, or Ansible

Preferred Qualifications:

* 4+ years of experience in developing RESTful API's using Spring and Jersey
* 4+ years of experience in Database technologies like SQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
* 2+ years of experience with Data technologies using Kafka, Spark, or Grafana
* 2 + years of experience with scripting languages like Ruby, Python, or Perl
