As a DevOps Engineer/AWS you can work with a dynamic team to develop innovated solutions to solve national and global challenges that our customers face in the federal and private space. Work location is remote for this position and as needed Dovel HQ (McLean, VA) and onsite client (Silver Spring, VA).

The DevOps/AWS Engineer is responsible for managing the build and deployment automation for information systems deployed on AWS. Primary responsibilities include: working with solutions architects and development teams to determine build and deployment requirements, provisioning infrastructure on AWS, and collaborating with the development team to build the automation required to implement continuous delivery pipelines. A key part of the role is to establish patterns and practices that can be leveraged across multiple systems. This includes identifying standard tools and the creation of a library of automation scripts for common build and deployment tasks. The DevOps Engineer stays abreast of current trends in the industry continuously looking for ways to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and operationalize AWS environments
* Build automated provisioning and deployment scripts for environments deployed on AWS.
* Build, manage and support Development, Testing and Production environments
* Perform system monitoring and maintenance, including system administration on Windows and Linux systems.
* Review the weekly security scan report and address/resolve the identified threats
* Review the vulnerability report and schedule and install system and application patches
* Monitor the system availability and respond to unscheduled outages
* Monitor and manage the system backup jobs and perform system/data recovery
* Work with the development, security and infrastructure teams to define, gather, and document technical and functional requirements for new and existing systems

Qualifications

* Government experience required; FDA or HHS experience desired
* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or other related degree and 10 years of experience; advanced degree preferred.
* Must be knowledgeable in Enterprise Architecture, SOA, J2EE, and/or Net Full Cycle implementation experience including requirements, design, implementation, and integration and testing.
* Knowledgeable of SOA products (i.e., IBM Websphere, Oracle Application Server, Weblogic and Fusion Middleware and Fuse (Enterprise Service Bus, Services Framework, Message Broker and Mediation Router), Registry/Repository, ESM, Policy Server).
* At least 2 major SOA Implementations experience; 2+ years experience in cloud implementations
* Experience in Java, JEE, Web Services(SOAP, REST), ESB
* Implementation familiarity including requirements, design, implementation integration, and testing.


* Knowledge of messaging systems; web service (WS) and other information standards and technologies, including WS-Reliable Messaging (RM), WS-Security, WS-Addressing.
* Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF, ZACHMAN, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure); Distributed environment technology realities
* Experience with Application and technology integrations; industry reference models (Open Group, Oasis); Security Adoption Methodology preferably for banking and defense based domains
* Tools and technologies used to design, plan, and validate architecture designs
* Strong communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.
