BASIC FUNCTION

The Defined Benefit Systems Analyst is responsible for the setup and maintenance of all pension administration calculation engines using Milliman's proprietary administration system, RPAS, as well as any other Microsoft Office based pension calculators. Additionally, the Systems Analyst provides systems, data management and technical actuarial support to the Daily Administration team, as needed. The Systems Analyst works under general supervision exercising a great deal of initiative and independent judgment in the performance of any assigned task. In this role, both technical and project management skills are utilized.

The Defined Benefit Systems Analyst will interact within their team and with other Milliman teams (possibly across office locations) with a moderate amount of interaction with the client. A small amount of travel can be anticipated. The Systems Analyst partners with the System team's implementation project manager, who is responsible for each implementation, and under general supervision of the Implementation Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assist in the development and review of plan specifications for pension administration clients from plan documents, summary plan descriptions and sample calculations
* Identify and load essential historical data for plan conversions and develop payroll data feed layouts for periodic payroll loads
* Analyze system defects or new system development requests to provide technology support and solutions, data maintenance and reporting.
* Code and review approved plan specifications or technology changes into the Plan Design module of Unified Admin (RPAS) to generate participant calculations and distribution forms
* Execute test plans, including regression test plans, by identifying/creating test participants and performing calculations as needed for expected results in order to confirm accuracy of configuration to requirements and does not negatively impact existing client provisions.
* Coordinate/perform the promotion of pension calculators to Production environment
* Act as a liaison between EB Admin DB and Milliman's RPAS development team, responsible for system defect submissions and user acceptance testing as needed for RPAS enhancement and service releases as required for system changes and technology enhancements
* Assist with the development and/or review of RPAS system requirements for any pension oriented enhancements
* Identify, analyze, and assist in executing improvements to any processes and procedures
* Provide training for operations team on plans moving from the implementation to an operational environment
* Responsibilities may focus more heavily on requirements, configuration and/or testing based upon abilities and needs

JOB REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree preferred with a focus in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or any other analytical field, a plus
* Defined Benefit plan administration and/or systems configuration experience, preferred
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service
* Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and individually
* Excellent analytical and mathematical capabilities, with great attention to detail
* Ability to solve problems efficiently while being innovative and creative
* Experience using Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications or Visual Basic.net, preferred
* Experience with SQL Enterprise Manager and/or Microsoft Access, preferred
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Access)
* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and track multiple tasks and issues, set goals and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
* Basic project management skills
* Willingness and flexibility to work overtime, as needed
* Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designation from the American Society of Pension Actuaries (ASPPA) or willingness to pursue ASPPA exams, a plus
