The DBA's role is to set the technology strategy of the data warehouse, design enhancements and implement data driven processes across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability and integrity

Job description

In this role, the Database Architect/Administrator is responsible for the following: • Define data warehouse system, strategy, reports, OLAP cube and application requirements by consulting with system users and department heads about the types of information needed • Determine how data should be organized, who should have access to different data and how it should be displayed • Design and develop data models and database architecture. Act as an internal consultant to answering challenging data questions from disparate data sources • Proactively monitor the data subsystems for application performance and availability and take corrective action where needed • Write, update, and maintain data processes to handle specific jobs such as tracking, reporting, and ETL • Design, develop and document physical data models, structures, OLAP cubes and database architecture • Develop and enhance stored procedures, triggers, functions, views • Meet with internal clients to gather requirements to implement new application data models • Develop scripts to automate administration and management of the environment • Database administration support including backups, recovery, security, tuning and monitoring • Resolving database production issues, code troubleshooting • Create technical specifications and support documentation • Provide technical guidance to application development team members for working with the data model • Provide regular status updates on projects, including progress updates and identification of issues associated with assigned tasks • Research and introduce new database technologies • Proactively plan for data contingencies, and design, recommend, implement, and manage changes under the guidance of Director of Finance Operations • Recommend long-term data solutions in accordance with an understanding of the methodology, architecture, business needs, and strategic success of the organization • Lead and facilitate the development and implementation of data solutions across technology and business areas. Assist management with the selection of a technology solution that is in alignment with enterprise-wide architecture/technology, creation of cost and time estimates, task identification, and sequencing of project events • Other responsibilities as necessary (Maintain existing SSIS packages, Maintain SSRS reports or Create SSIS packages to load, transform and process data) Requirements and Qualifications: • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering • 8-10 years database development and administration using Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2, 2014, 2016) • 5+ years experience architecting, designing and developing an enterprise data warehouse including data modeling, data analysis, cubes and reporting • 5+ years experience with physical layer (storage, allocations, virtualization, partitioning) • Hands on experience managing data, writing star schemas and developing ETL processes • Knowledge of MS SQL system stored procedure and tables • In depth T-SQL knowledge is required, including advanced tuning skills • Must have knowledge in Business Intelligence Platform (SAP, Qlikview/Sense, SAS, SSAS)
