Job Description

Flow Traders is looking to expand our team of in-house database experts with a Database Administrator for our New York office. In this role, you will be working across global teams on the setup, management and continuous evolution of a global database landscape constituting one of the cornerstones of our operations.

As a DBA, you will perform a variety of business critical tasks such as, setting up databases and security accounts, implementing database alterations, upgrades and migrations, as well as more complex initiatives such as, assisting in designing, developing and rolling out new projects or maintaining and troubleshooting global replication topologies and other high pressure recovery situations.

Responsibilities

* Conducting operational tasks on the databases, such as maintenance, upgrades and migrations
* Design, setup and management of databases and data stores
* Design and implementation of highly available, scalable database systems
* Design, implementation and testing of backup, restore and archive plans
* Review and optimization of data models
* Performance monitoring and optimizing
* Storage and capacity planning and forecasting

Requirements

* In-depth experience with MySQL and MariaDB
* Solid understanding of InnoDB, Cassandra, ColumnStore
* Proficient with Linux command line, Linux based systems administration and shell scripting
* Experience with non-structured data stores
* Experience managing a global database landscape
* Experience with and understanding of the replication mechanisms
* Experience with Hadoop (preferably Cloudera), HDFS, Yarn, Spark, Kafka, Hazelcast, Etcd
* Backup, restore and archiving methods
* MS SQL Server >= 2014 Enterprise
* ANSI SQL and T/SQL stored procedure development
* High scale projects (e.g. 5mio+write/s)
* Results driven with highly analytical and problem solving mindset
* Ability to effectively collaborate across teams and global offices.
