Job Description

Position Summary:

* The Data Management Specialist Sr. will perform data analysis using a variety of tools and methods to provide technical assistance as a subject matter expert in identifying, evaluating and recommending data solutions that meet business requirements.
* Review and provide recommendations on data validation and testing approach, systems testing and support, and data quality processes. In addition, provide training, resolve questions, and give direction to less experienced staff as well as providing support to the leadership team on achieving strategic and tactical goals regarding data.
* Responsible for understanding, analyzing, and documenting complex business processes & requirements which involve a broad understanding of the upstream and downstream systems, including impact and gap analysis of current data and reporting systems.

Position Responsibilities:

* Provide expert-level consulting services regarding identification and resolution of highly complex data challenges and issues
* Understand complex business processes and relationships to determine downstream impacts to data and applications
* Serve as subject matter expert and steward for data architecture and content for assigned projects. Provide systems and enterprise-level data architecture and data management strategies and solutions
* Identify areas for data quality improvements and helps to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
* Lead discussions with business partners to identify, understand, and document functional and non-functional requirements resulting in data acquisition or integration
* Review data modeling artifacts to ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures and data management best practices promoting proper data sharing, consistency and reuse
* Provide data consulting services to application teams utilizing supported data environments
* Understand the existing source system data models
* Create source-target mapping documents and functional data specifications
* Participate in and support the full project life cycle (initiation, planning, requirements, analysis, design, development, quality assurance, user-acceptance testing, deployment, and production support)
* Ensure quality of master data in key systems, as well as, development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts and data stewards to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
* Manage, analyze, and resolve data initiative issues and manage revisions needed to best meet business requirements while adhering to published data standards.
* Assist in data management, governance, and data quality of master data requirements with other functional data owners to ensure master data integrity across the operation of systems is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements.
* Develop re-useable processes that can be leveraged and standardized for multiple instances
* Perform analysis to determine the root cause of production defects
* Document the requirements to correct production defects
* Support Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing of production defects
* Provide ad-hoc data analysis and support to business functions

Required Qualifications:

Required Experience:

7-10 years in similar role

Required Education:

A BS/BA degree or higher or equivalent experience

Required Specialized Skills:

* Advanced proficiency in data analysis, data profiling, data extraction, and data mining
* Expert understanding in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets
* Strong understanding of statistical methodologies and techniques utilized for analyzing large datasets
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of relational & multi-dimensional databases, with emphasis on data warehousing
* Expert knowledge of structured query language (SQL) coding and execution
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ETL concepts and processes
* Exposure to advanced analytics concepts such as predictive models and / or machine learning
* Experience designing and developing data cleansing routines utilizing typical data quality functions involving standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking, and matching

Desired Qualifications:

* Working knowledge of data governance practices, policies and procedures
* Experience implementing data integrity and data quality processes
* Experience with one or more statistical tools such as R, Stata, SAS or Minitab
* Experience with one or more business intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI
* Experience working with an ETL solution such as Informatica Power Center (or equivalent). Informatica preferred
* Experience with Informatica Metadata Manager and Business Analyst tools
* Experience with Oracle and SQL Server database management systems
* Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Postgres, etc …
* Working knowledge of Unix and Linux
* Experience in Financial Services (automotive finance preferable)

Work Flexibility:

* Some travel may be required (less than 10% of the time)
