Job Description

Sema4 is a patient-centered predictive health company founded on the idea that more data, deeper analysis, and increased engagement will improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Sema4 is enabling physicians and consumers to more seamlessly engage the digital universe of health data, from genome test results and clinical records to wearable sensor metrics and more. The company currently offers advanced genome-based diagnostics for reproductive health and oncology and is building predictive models of complex disease. As a Data Engineer, you will help design, build, and maintain the data pipelines that power Sema4s information and diagnostic business lines. You will work alongside software development and DevOps teams to instrument and monitor data stores with performance and latency. Optimize data structures, schemas, indices, and storage engines. Perform and report out ad-hoc data analyses, establish and maintain data security protocols. Optimize data storage cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and maintain ETL processes
* Create quality metrics and monitoring tools to ensure high fidelity data
* Participate in Schema design with our bioinformatics team
* Work within a software engineering team to deliver data products to market
* Take ownership of what were building and participate in the technology stack decisions
* Perform and report on ad-hoc data analyses
* Assist in database administration. Backups, performance tuning, load balancing

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors Degree or Masters
* 3+ years experience
* Strong, clear communication ability
* Proven track record of data engineering, backing real-world shipping software products
* Write high quality, well tested, production grade code
* Strong knowledge of databases (relational and non-relational)
* Proficiency in SQL
* Proficiency in Git
* Startup experience is a major plus
* Healthcare industry a plus
* Strong communication both written and verbal
