Job Description

* Data Center Operations Tech will be responsible for all hardware related issues including: hardware failure, hardware configuration, troubleshooting on servers, network switches and other rack-mountable hardware
* Responsible for supporting vpn related issues as well as ip filtering from (whitelisting black listing ip's) during shifts as required.
* The engineer would be required to open, update and resolve service desk tickets via our ticketing system .
* Responsibilities also include doing standard walkthroughs in the data center and reporting any issues such as power supply failures, hard drive failures water leaks etc, and alert monitoring for hard disk failures.
* The Engineer must have the ability to travel to the work location daily and secondary data center when needed.
* Ability to lift at least 50lbs comfortably
* Must be available for overnight shifts and holiday work when required

Required Skills:

* Basic understanding of VPN configuration and troubleshooting
* Familiar with alert tracking and monitoring applications
* A+ and network+ certification would be ideal, but this can be discussed
* Ability to document complex problem resolution summaries and repetitive tasks interfaces through online ticketing system
* Ability to demonstrate effective team and interpersonal skills
* Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
* Expertise with day-to-day data center operation tasks, including rack/stack, understanding of switch/port configurations, server decommissioning
* Critical thinking and decision making related to outage risk assessment
* Strong cable management skills and experience managing fiber & copper in a data center environment.
* Desired Skills:
* Technical writing and documentation skills are preferred
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
