Provides support role in data processes (data analysis, maintenance, development, audits) for transmission, substation systems and substation equipment to ensure that all data and applications are delivered consistently, that the data management system's data standards are used, Service Level Agreements are observed, and process improvements are realized to ensure that the Transmission department receives data and applications that can be fully utilized to maximize their value to the business. As such, incumbent must gain knowledge of the data maintained within the supported database systems and knowledge of the physical electric power system equipment and maintenance and construction activities which that data represents.

This functional job family (Data Analyst-Transmission) has the lead responsibility for data quality, data analysis and data training development efforts. Key activities for this position include: (1) maintaining, querying, reporting and analyzing data from a number of data management systems, (2) administering the data management systems, (3) support the operation, maintenance and construction of the electric Transmission system.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Process Management: Carries out individual assignments of a less complex nature executing appropriate system applications & data processes. Receives work assignments and works with review and direction. Work is defined with prescibed process instruction.
* Administers, develops reports, and analyzes equipment data, preventative maintenance schedules, and work orders within the computerized software systems that are mainframe, PC, and/or network-based applications.
* Project Management: Carries out individual assignments of a less complex nature to meet established work schedules. Receives work assignments and works with review and direction. Work is defined with little freedom of action.
* Administers, develops reports, and analyzes equipment data, preventative maintenance schedules, and work orders within the computerized software systems that are mainframe, PC, and/or network-based applications.
* Customer Support: Resolves less complex problems that have been identified and isolated.
* Provides technical expertise and guidance to department personnel on use of the computerized software systems. Assists in delivery of customized training, including communicating information to field personnel. Delivers high-quality results in a timely manner, meeting or exceeing established deadlines or promised data. Establishes and maintains open communications and effective working relationships with Managers, Supervisors, and individual contributors within the "customer" departments within Duke Energy. Proactively understands and fulfills the needs of the "customers".

Basic Requirements

* Associates degree in Information Technology or related field OR 2+ years of experience in lieu of a Degree

Desired Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field
* Successfully completed college-level or certification courses in database systems, data structures, and data querying and reporting tools
* Minimum of 3 years work experience in data analysis and administration of equipment tracking and maintenance database systems or related technology applications.
* Exceeding minimum qualifications outlined in major accountabilities section
* Demonstrated strong working knowledge of the transmission systems, substations and substation equipment and associated safety and maintenance policies, practices and procedures
* Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
* Demonstrated ability to work with numerous organizational levels of personnel both within and external to the company (e.g. Substation supervisors, managers, Mechanics/Electricians, Engineers and Technical Analysts' Storeroom/Procurement personnel; sales, customer service, and other vendor personnel)
* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with ability and willingness to share information and transfer knowledge to others
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated working knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Office products and familiarity with retrieving all applicable corporate information.
* Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
